On Sunday in Martinsburg, WV’s the weather was much improved over Saturday, and the team was able to get both performances off the ground. For the first show the Gold Demonstration Team was able to put together a hybrid formation, which included both flyers falling belly to earth, and feet first. The tandem team was also able to take their passenger, Jamie Burke from WHAG news station,  from Saturday’s show, and she was not disappointed with her freefall experience.

On the second jump, the team showed the crowd a wide range of capabilities, by performing a baton pass, cutaway maneuver, and diamond track, before the winds kicked up too high to safely complete the full show. In between jumps, the team gave a parachute packing demonstration, allowing anyone interested to come and help get the parachute ready for the next jump. Gold Team is looking forward to returning to Martinsburg’s Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Air Show in 2011.
