The Gold Demonstration Team finished off last weekend at Scott AFB with their final two demonstration jumps going off beautifully, and are back at Whiteman AFB, MO this weekend. So far, the weather has even cooperated to give them full altitude for their night jump on Friday night. During this jump, the Team was able to introduce several people to the job that they hold by allowing them to ride in the aircraft during the actual demonstration jump and watch the Team members exit from 12,500 feet while using pyrotechnics attached to their boots to light up the sky. The highlight of the show was the Team’s new pyro chain hooked up with a new specialized pyro, which produces a more impressive show. The Team successfully completed the night demonstration, landing on target in front of a large hanger for the Friday night social.
Earlier in the day, several Team members went on a local high school visit to Windsor High School to share the many opportunities that the U.S. Army has to offer. Among many questions that the kids had about what it takes to get to the Golden Knights, and how to start skydiving, the Team was able to give a lot of information about how the Army can help pay for college, and all of the different job options available. Satisfied that they had made a difference in these kid’s futures, the Team left as the principal promised to send in a request that the Golden Knights return next year.
