On Tuesday the Golden Knights hosted a tandem camp for 4th Brigade Cadet Command at the Golden Knights home drop zone in Laurinburg, NC. The clouds moved out just in time for the mission to commence, and not skipping a beat the Tandem Team was in the air with Adrienne Core, Miss North Carolina. SFC Mike Elliott helped Miss North Carolina with the daring leap.
At 13,500 ft above the drop zone the two moved to the open door and inched their way to very edge of the door. Its was cold and breezy hanging half way out of the airplane. SSG Jared Zell was there to capture the “once in a life time opportunity”, taking photos and recording the jump on video.
The mission went off successfully and the Tandem team jumped 10 centers of influences from the local community who appeared to have the time of their life. The tandem passengers where met on Tuesday morning by the 4th Brigade Cadet commander and had breakfast, lunch and an experience of a lifetime.
The Tandem Camp was to take place on Wednesday and Thursday but mother nature and Tropical Storm Nicole had other plans. A soaking rain, low clouds and wind hindered the rest of the camp. Everyone who came out to spend the day with the Golden Knights, whether they jumped or not had a great experience learning about the capabilities of todays Army. The jumpers came from all over the local community. It was a great experience put on the 4th Brigade Cadet Command, to reward center of influences from the local area with the opportunity of a Tandem Jump and an Army Strong experience.
