Golden Knights score a Touchdown at the 2011 US Army All American Bowl

Friday was the final day for the Golden Knights Tandem Camp supporting the US Army All American Bowl, and the last day was just as good as the first.  For the first time in over four years Mother Nature was on our side.  The weather was perfect for jumping out of airplanes.  Over the three day event for the Golden Knights, 48 Center of Influences from around the United States jumped out of an airplane for the fist time.

Over the final two days the Team was proud to spend time with such distinguished guests.  Many of whom were nominated for the Tandem Jump for the work in their local communities.  Civic leaders, educators, coaches, radio hosts, and more were treated to a closer look inside the lives of soldiers.  A very close look 13,500 ft above the All American Bowl.  Every passenger was thrilled with their experience.  A video of their jump and still photographs were given to each passenger with the mission of showing the Army Strong Experience with their students, athletes and community.  Bruce Popko a VP from the Buffalo Bills organization was at the All American Bowl and jumped with the Tandem Team.  Debi Koch, a high school principal from Houston, TX couldn’t to show off her jump to the school.  Ronold Rochon spent Wednesday with the Golden Knights, he is the  Sr Vice President of Southern Indiana University.  Also joining the Tandem Team was Chris Jesperson from North Georgia College.  North Georgia College is a state leadership college with a strong ROTC program.  Chris will no doubt share his stories with future Army leaders.

Each person who jumped with the Golden Knights also spent time learning how to shoot clay pigeons with the US Army Marksmanship.  Our guest through the week arrived on Tuesday of this week, and each had a very busy schedule here in San Antonio.  The US Army set up tents and displays all around the Alamo Dome. The football stars at the event ran through various practices and combines showing their skill not only to the Army center of influences but also college scouts in the area looking for last minute signings and commitments.

The jumping wrapped up today but the team will be working through the weekend.  On Saturday the Team headed to the All Star game and watched High Schools best showcase their skills.  Sunday the team packs up and heads to Sunny Florida for two months of training.
