Community Covenant Signed at Homestead Air Reserve Base!

The Golden Knights Tandem Team has been working Hand in Hand with the Miami Recruiting Battalion over the last few weeks.  The Tandem Team has been taking local principals, educators and administrators from local High Schools on Tandem jumps.  On Saturday, The Golden Knights and the Miami Recruiting Battalion were honored to host 10 Mayors from the Southern Florida area to honor and sign a Community Covenant. It was a very special day for the US Army, south Florida, and the Golden Knights.  The Mayors of 10 southern Florida cities united together to show their support for the Army by Jumping with the Golden Knights and signing the Community Covenant. The covenant is a bond between local community leaders and military families. It shows a great deal of support for our troops.

The Mayors and their families came to Homestead Air Reserve Base to spend the day with the US Army.  The National Guard Band set up at the drop zone to keep everyone entertained while the Mayors took to the sunny skies.  The Tandem Jump was just a small token of appreciation for the Mayors continued support of the men and women of our military within their communities.  The weather couldn’t have been better.  Clear blue skies and light winds with temperatures in the low 80’s.  Each of the Mayors were very excited and thankful for the opportunity to jump with the Golden Knights and were very thankful to be part of such a great event supporting the Military.  This is the second year in a row the covenant was signed just after each Mayor over came a little personal courage and jumped 2 ½ miles above southern Florida.  After all the jumps were complete each of the Mayors stepped forward and signed the Community Covenant. LTC Isaac Johnson of the Miami Recruiting Battalion was the last to sign.

The Community Covenant states that:

We recognize:

Ÿ The commitment and sacrifices that Soldiers and the families make for us each and every day

Ÿ    Soldiers find strength through their families

Ÿ    Families find strength through the communities of which they are a part

Ÿ    The strength of the community comes from each individual

We are committed to:

Ÿ Building partnerships that support strength, resilience, and readiness of Soldiers and their families

Ÿ Expanding career exploration opportunities in our communities

Ÿ Working together to improve the perception of our youth, leaders and teachers

The Golden Knights Tandem Team would like to thank all of the Mayors who participated in this Community Covenant.  It means a great deal to all of us knowing that community leaders are supporting our military and their families.
