Sunny weather, an energetic crowd, and incredible show performances sums up in a few words the excitement of the Puerto Rico Air Extravaganza. Gold Team finishes up another great weekend in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. The Team arrived on Friday to setup and prepare for four shows over this gorgeous weekend.
This year’s Puerto Rico Air Extravaganza was especially memorable for fifty new delayed entry program Soldiers who had the experience of taking their oath of enlistment along side the Golden Knights C-31 Troopship Aircraft. The “Swearing In” ceremony was truly a remarkable experience, giving the team members an opportunity to look back on each of their own first experiences in the Army. It was an honor to be a part of this ceremony with these newly joined Soldiers.
The Puerto Rico Air Extravaganza introduced Gold Team’s new members the opportunity to describe to the spectators the excitement of both our mass and full shows, in addition narrating live over the radio waves. Large portions of the unseen spectators were able to still enjoy the experience of the show from the tops of hills and mountains while tuning in.
Two of our own Team members SGT George Perez and SSG Silvagnoli were welcomed with open arms as they returned home as hometown heroes. During the trip they had the opportunity to be featured in several newspapers as headline stories.
The Airshow finished as a complete success this weekend thanks in large part to the efforts, dedication and expertise of the Golden Knights Aviation Section “Team 6.” Thank you MAJ Blackwood, Mr. Clay, SFC Gomez, and SSG Silvagnoli for all of the support.
