Army Medical Command Teams up with the Golden Knights!

Just when the Tandem Team started enjoying the cool temperatures of an early fall, Tandem Team packed up shop and headed to the blazing heat of San Antonio, TX.  As the team loaded up for their flight, temps at Pope AAF were cool in the upper 60’s to low 70’s.  As soon as the main cabin door of the C-26 Metroliner opened in Texas, a burst of 102 degree heat rushed in.  The Golden Knights soon found out the relentless heat of summer wasn’t over in Texas.

The Tandem Team was in town to support an AMED conference going on at Ft. Sam Houston, the leading medical training post for the Army Medical Command.  The Tandem jumps started out with a first for Tandem Team, two General officers on the same plane.  Major General Ted Wong, Commanding General for Brooks Army Medical Center, and Major General Robert Kasulke, Commanding General of ARMEDCOM, led from the front as they were the first jumpers out of the airplane.  The generals had an amazing experience free falling at 120 MPH with the US Army Golden Knights.  That jump was just a start to a great event.  Doctors and Surgeons from across the country came to San Antonio for an in depth look into the Army Medical Field.  One stop on the tour took them to 13,500 ft above Stinson Air field.  The Golden Knights were happy to show them a glimpse into other occupational skill specialties the Army has to offer.  During the event the Golden Knights also had the honor of sharing the skies with Herb Coley Chief of Staff Army Medical Command as well as Jeff Wentworth a Texas state Senator and Raul Torres a Texas Stat Representative.
