Forty years ago, the sport of skydiving was a somewhat obscure pastime marked with the stereotype of long haired hippies and crazy people. Because it was such a new sport, regulations were spotty and inconsistent at best. The equipment was still in its early stages of development and there was very little standardization in the industry. In 1967 the United States parachute Association (USPA) was established, and as the years went by and regulations and equipment got better and safer. (more…)

The U.S. Army Parachute Team, “Golden Knights” arrived at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton Virginia early Friday afternoon to be greeted by unfavorable conditions. However the Hampton Roads area opened up just enough to pull off our Golden Knight Stack out where all jumpers exit our C-31 Troopship aircraft and quickly deploy our parachutes. Three lucky combat camera Airmen were onboard for the demonstration to capture a glimpse of what it’s like to be “Army Strong.” (more…)
For the Second year in a row the Tandem Team jumped into to Major League Baseballs’ “Civil Rights” game. Last year the team jumped in Cincinnati, OH where the Reds were playing the Cardinals. This year the game featured the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies. (more…)
