SFC Bovee subtlety explaining the importance of Rigger checks
Dr Tracy Hammond
Dr Tracy Hammond came all the way from Texas A&M University to help paratroopers. Why not show her what jumping out of airplanes is all about. Dr Hammond is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M. She came to Ft. Bragg to help the 18th ABN CORPS build a research solution to help paratroopers find there assigned heavy drop and assembly areas on the drop zone. On Tuesday she spent the morning with Tandem Team. SFC Mike Elliott taught her about jumping out of airplanes Tandem style. She was very excited for the opportunity to jump with the Golden Knights. The weather was perfect. Light winds and cool temperatures made it for a great day of skydiving. (more…)
In addition to the impressive freefall and canopy flying demonstrations that the Golden Knights do for the American Public, we also do parachute packing demonstrations. This is a great way for the Team to interact with the public, to meet the great people who watch our shows all over the country, and to get a chance to tell each of the individual team member’s Army story. Here is a parachute packing demonstration pictorial for one of those events.

At each event several people always ask, “So, do you actually jump them with these pack jobs?” and the answer is “Absolutely!”
