What does it take to be on a world record skydive? Two members of the Golden Knights Tandem Team are training to be on the 2012 Vertical Formation World Record jump. The jump will take place in July of 2012, which is now less than a year away. To be on the jump, all interested jumpers must take part in a series of tryout and skills camps.
This Thanksgiving holiday, women from all over the country and the world gathered at Skydive Arizona, in Eloy, AZ to attempt to build the world’s largest vertical formation of all women. SGT Jen Schaben represented the Golden Knights by joining 40 other women to build this record. Ladies started arriving on Monday, to jump at the warmup camps on Tuesday and Wednesday. Several members of the Golden Knights were in California last week to help set the state’s largest vertical formation record. SSG Joe Abeln, SSG Trevor Oppenborn, SSG Reese Pendleton and SGT Jen Schaben joined jumpers from across the country and the world to complete a 58 person vertical formation. Participants came from the Ukraine, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Canada and Brazil for the accomplishment. (more…)
